The process of creating this poster was a very important lesson in my design career. The objective was to create a campy horror movie poster from the 1950’s. In order to arrive at a result that is similar to posters from that era, an immense amount of research needs to be made. I studied composition, color palettes, typography, even the name structures. The challenge of recreating posters from that era was breaking the rules of composition that I had spent so long practicing. I created a rudimentary random name generator and chose the first few names that inspired me. I have included my process work from the rough stage to the final result. Kiss of the Hidden Lobsters won in the end because of it’s ridiculous and comical nature.
